PROFILES OF SPEAKERS AND TOPICS
Dr. Nancy Mussara is a clinical psychologist who has researched “the working memory” and how it is misinterpreted. She will discuss the different diagnosis’ of autism and how we as professionals can work with children. She works closely with diversion programs and how it ties in with trauma, affect, identity development, coping mechanisms and social problems. She will share information about the Connections Program which is a martial arts program used in conjunction with Diversion.
Kirsti Mouncey will explore the unique ethical dilemmas professionals face when working with survivors of trauma, such as counter transference, boundaries, law and responsible practice. This workshop will provide tools for recognizing and avoiding ethical dilemmas and ways to manage.
Mr. Dan Clark will present on the Stewards of Children Course which is a revolutionary sexual abuse prevention training program that educates professionals to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse and motivates them to courageous action.
Kathleen Davis is the National Training Coordinator for Polaris Project, an organization combating human trafficking. She will give an overview of human trafficking in the United States, state and federal law as it applies to local enforcement efforts, signs and indicators of trafficking, as well as assessment tools to identify victims of trafficking within the populations encountered by the juvenile justice system.
